Cation exchange is one of the most common methods of water softening, and involves a process in which ions are exchanged. Water can be softened in a fully automatic process or with an electronic sensor that softens the water, depending on your use. Having the right size water softener is an important part of regulating the hardness of your water. It can make a big difference in how equipment, from your water heater to your washing machine, do their jobs. .
